Emergency poet is the world’s first and only mobile poetic first aid service. Emergency poet is a participatory, poetic and playful experience set inside a touring 1960’s vintage ambulance, offering a unique, collaborative experience. Participants are admitted one at a time or in small family groups through the back of the ambulance. The 1960’s ambulance will also be accompanied by an adjoining ‘cold comfort pharmacy’ where Nurse Vurse will be on hand to assist with the dispensing of appropriate poetic remedies. The pharmacy will also provide a waiting area for individuals where they can browse the pharmacy, view the poetic health notices, equipment and cabinet of curiosities.
Emergency poet was conceived by poet and writer Deborah Alma as a fun way of bringing poetry to people. Deborah also works for the courtyard theatre in Hereford using poetry to help communicate with people with dementia.
Emergency Poet is a free event. Watch out for her in various locations around Knaresborough on all three days of the festival.
